One telephone
Papers litter the desk
Surrounding the chair
Motionless in silence
Waiting for his return
Back from the sterile white
of the hospital walls
Back from the caring arms
of those who love him
Back from the boredom
of a life without tedium
Silence and stillness
The stapler still doesn't know
he has other places to be.
